See the Difference Before You Wait: A/B Compare

Restoring a full two-hour tape takes time, and it would be miserable to wait for the whole thing only to find you picked the wrong setting. So VHS Fix lets you preview first. Click A/B compare sample and it restores just a few seconds, then plays a side-by-side clip — your original on one half, the restored version on the other — with the original sound, so you can judge the result in seconds.

Not happy? Change the preset or upscaling and compare again. How to Use It, Step by Step

  1. Load your video. Click Choose Media… on the main toolbar and pick your captured tape or old clip.
  2. Open VHS Fix. Click the VHS Fix button. The window opens and immediately scans a sample to suggest good settings.
  3. Adjust if you like. Change the preset, turn AI upscaling on or off, or tick the boxes to crop the bottom band or fix faded colour. Or just leave the recommendation as-is.
  4. Preview. Click A/B compare sample to see a quick before-and-after. Use 🎲 Random spot to check a few different scenes.
  5. Restore. When it looks right, click Restore full video. A progress bar shows exactly where it's up to, and you can cancel any time.
